So...things have improved. A lot. My apologies for the whining and self-pity in the last post. And also for being a bonehead and not being able to FIND this blog again because it's associated with an email I no longer have.
Shortly after I wrote that poor-me post, I decided to try a different outlook: having faith. Dr. Husband was optimistic, and he had several good leads for jobs almost immediately. So I thought to myself that if he could do it, so could I.
And now....?
Dr. Husband has a job. A really, really good one. Thanks to this job, we've been allowed to move from the humid, disgusting Midwest to upstate New York. One hundred and thirty inches of average snowfall, baby! YEAH!!!!
But the big thing is that the relocation package from his new job provides for a way to unload the damn anvil that was keeping us tied to our old city. That's right, folks: THE HOUSE IS GONE! There was some minor damage to it during some serious storms in July, but as soon as the insurance payments for that get squared away, we'll no longer have to worry about it.
The Short One and the Wee One are looking forward to starting school, and they actually have friends in the neighborhood to play with. And we're living in a neighborhood where I can LET them play outside without needing Kevlar or without me being out there with them to make sure they don't get snatched.
Did I mention that shortly before we moved, the father of one of the Short One's friends was shot to death at his home during a domestic dispute? And that they lived down the street and around the corner from us? Yeah....SO glad to be out of there.
So that's my lesson for this summer. Things were looking like pureed crap for a bit there, but I made the conscious decision to believe that it was all going to work out. That outlook has been helping me for almost 6 months now. I think I'll keep it up.
Now...back to the FUN!!!
